Contents of the Game

When this Family Fortunes Board Game is opened, the players will find cards with over 1000 popular answers to the topics, pencils, writing pads, a timer, that excellent “wrong answer” buzzer, and of course the rules of the game.  It is designed for players ages eight and up, and the game is designed with a couple of variations that allows it to be played with either two teams or two individual players.  The players try to give the answers that were the most frequently given for each question.

Playing the Game

To play the game, the two teams are decided and one player acts as the host for the first game in a match of six games that includes three games that are played in the Single Money Rules, two games that are played with the Double Money Rules, and one game that is played with the Big Money Rules.  This team leader has the small unit and presses one of the buttons on the device to start the game.

For the Single Money game, one player from each team is placed by the buzzer for their unit.  The leader reads out the first question that crosses the screen, and just like the television version, the first player to hit their buzzer gets to give an answer.  The leader checks to see if the answer they gave is on the list.  If it is, the leader presses the button to show the players the position of the answer and the values of the points that answer received; if the answer’s not on the list, the leader presses the “wrong answer” buzzer.

If the answer that was given was not the most popular answer, the opposing player has five seconds to come up with an answer that beats the answer given.  The team with the highest answer gets to decide if they want to pass the question to the other team or answer it themselves.  The team can get three wrong answers before they lose that round.

The play continues until one team reaches 600 points after they have finished the questions of the Big Money Game or get all or they get the five most popular answers on any of the Big Money games.  If neither team reaches the 600 points they continue playing.
